Carabinieri italians have discovered a printing of counterfeit currency with over 40 million euros to Torre del Greco, Italy. According to local media, during excavations, they found a few barrels tightly closed inside a hangar isolated.
After the opening of these casks, the carabinieri have discovered 90 bags containing counterfeit notes of 50 and 100 euros.
The owner of the hangar, ‘aniello Rivieccio, 67-year-old, already known to police for offences of the same nature, has been jailed for possession of counterfeit notes and of instruments of forgery. It has been brought to the prison of Poggioreale.
Technical analysis of the notes, initiated by the staff of the Bank of Italy and the unit of the carabinieri in the fight against counterfeiting, revealed that the quality of the notes was excellent.
The media point out that it took six rifles and five hours to count all the tickets.
